Stickability is the greatest quality a person can have. Although this word is not in the dictionary, it is through determination, and through a person’s capacity to stick to any task that he achieves success.
Philosophy: It’s not how many times a man gets knocked down – it’s how many times he gets up that counts!.
Think of Abraham Lincoln. He had eighteen failures and continued to use Stickability until he finally was elected President of the United States.
One of the best examples of Stickability in the athletic world is the New York Mets, who won the National League Pennant in 1969. The down-trodden victims of 737 defeats in 7 years, the New York Mets were 100 to 1 shots. Yet they rose in splendor to defeat the Atlanta Braves in the playoff of 1969 in three straight games, and catch the National League’s ninety-fourth pennant; then to go on and win the 1969 World Series!
The Mets went through years of ridicule that few teams have ever undergone. Yet in winning the World’s Series, they won the acclaim of the baseball world. Everyone seemed to think the players did not have the ability to build a team. Through determination, they built that team; and through rugged Stickability they achieved success.
Every man must face this same tremendous sense of determination if he is going to walk through all the barriers of life to achieve his desired success.
Stickability is one of the most universally admired qualities. It has been proven that most people have automatic Stickability when they are winning, but what happens when they are losing? They become apprehensive and quit. They cheat on themselves by accepting defeat as their lot in life. This can only lead to a split with reality; reality being that “A quitter Never Wins and A Winner Never Quits” The worst part of this is that they are not only cheating themselves, but also their families out of happiness as well as the material things they deserve.
Nothing is impossible. Keep in mind when the going gets tough the tough get going. Be like a postage stamp. Stick to one thing until you reach your destination. Before you can realize your goals in life, you must first cultivate Stickability. You will find this word the key ingredient in your climb to success. Since the dawn of history, every great man has witnessed temporary defeat. Each had to ask himself the same question that you must ask yourself. Is it your wish that failure be a destination in life rather than a temporary pause?
You were born to be great, so why settle for less?! Every fortune amassed in the world today was achieved with a recipe. True, there might have been thousands of different recipes used, but each one had at least two ingredients: first an opportunity; second, Stickability. Keep in mind – each attempt is a possibility for success.
